Based on 848 reviewsSouth Beverly Grill consistently garners praise for its refined yet approachable New American and sushi offerings, highlighting a menu that skillfully balances classic and creative dishes. Guests frequently commend the high-quality ingredients, especially the expertly cooked steaks and flavorful seafood. The atmosphere is noted for its polished, lively energy that suits both casual and upscale dining, with the bar area standing out as a popular spot. Service is generally described as warm and attentive, though occasional lapses in attentiveness are mentioned. The restaurant’s well-curated wine and cocktail selections, along with standout desserts, further enhance the dining experience. Plant-based options receive mixed feedback, indicating room for improvement in this area.
I absolutely loved this place! Quiet luxury is the name of the game. Let’s start with the staff — not only are they incredibly kind, warm, and service-oriented, but honestly, they’re also stunning! The food was nothing short of excellent. We started with the artichoke (I didn’t take a photo, but trust me — it’s highly recommended). For the main course, I had the vegetarian burger and… wow. They make it in-house, and as you might have figured out by now — they know exactly what they’re doing. I’ll definitely be back. Thank you so much for the wonderful hospitality More impressions from this visit — and others — can be found on my social: @kimnave
South Beverly Grill 4 out of 5 stars The ribeye steak was cooked to perfection!Juicy, deeply flavorful, and the clear highlight of the meal. The mashed potatoes were on point and the rainbow roll was very good. Overall the food was very good. The atmosphere is lively and enjoyable, a solid choice for dinner in Beverly Hills. Service needs more attentiveness. Our waiter was polite but missed an important allergy note in our group, which was an issue. Steve, the executive chef, came out personally once he learned about it and made things right on the spot. His response and care were very much appreciated. I recommend South Beverly Grill for the ribeye, the sushi rolls, and the overall vibe. Be clear about any allergies or special requests. With sharper attention to detail in service, this could be an easy five star experience.
I like this place. Staff is very kind and sits are usually comfortable and you have lot of space available. Menu is American classic and also creative sushi. Quality is high for the ingredients. Meat and steaks here a simply fabs. Nice restroom areas that are adequate for the amount of guests the restaurant can serve. Perfect experience. Dessert are accurate! Remember to save some space for taste them!
I went for a late lunch and grabbed a seat at the bar, which honestly feels like the place to be. The staff was super welcoming. Bartenders know their stuff and the drink options are stacked, from classic cocktails to solid wine picks. The whole room had that polished but lively energy, grown and social without trying too hard. Now the downside. If you are plant based, brace yourself. The vegan options were basically nonexistent, which was frustrating for a spot that clearly puts thought into everything else. I ended up ordering the avocado roll because there were not many choices. Thankfully it was delicious, fresh, and perfectly balanced, but I would have loved more than one safe option. Overall, great scene, great service, great bar. Just hoping the menu evolves a bit so everyone at the table has real choices. Would still go back for the atmosphere alone.
This is such a consistent restaurant! They always hit the mark on their food and service. They offer terrific wines at a reasonable price and the service is always top notch. We had the crab cakes, steak frites, sushi and a French dip. And of course every dessert! Wow! That key lime pie!
Nice restaurant from the Hillstone restaurant group. We valet parked and they were very polite and nice. The hostess treated us very warmly! This is a big plus. We have noticed that in many restaurants the hostess is surly and that dampens the enthusiasm of a diner coming in. The interior decor and ambience is upscale and yet approachable. The moodily lit wine cellar on the way to the restroom is a nice touch. We ordered the following: 1)Nigiri platter - 4/5 the fish quality was terrific, but the taste was marred by the protein being served on a mountain of rice. The rice portion was so much in comparison to the protein that the taste of rice dominated the nigiri sushi. The rice was also gummy and slightly too sweet. The jalapeño slices on the hiramasa was spicy and burned out tongues. 2) Coconut shrimp roll - 5/5 delicious roll for anyone who loves coconut flavor 3) warm kale panzanela salad - 5/5 always delicious The table service was a little slow. But overall we had a good experience
Friends and family for a few years now have been telling me I have to visit South Beverly and I finally had the time to take my family this week. I would just like to say how much I enjoyed my experience with very friendly and accommodating staff and delicious food. We showed up on a Wednesday at 8PM. It was extremely busy but the front of house was very kind and apologetic and offered to get us started with alcoholic drinks on the house until our table was ready. Thankfully we only had to wait for around 15 minutes and so we sipped on our cocktails by the bar until our table was ready. We were given an excellent circular booth with a good view of the whole restaurant, great for people watching. In regards to the food, we were all very pleasantly surprised. The only thing I would say is that the food came out too quickly. Even the warm towels were brought to our table very quickly when we were only half way through eating our dinner. We just felt a bit rushed but other than that the food was delicious and we were all very happy. We got their famous spinach and artichoke dip for a started and then the burger, ribs and roast beef sandwich for our main courses. I loved my evening overall and will definitely be returning soon. I also liked that most of the people seemed to be locals instead of tourists and so it feels like a nice hidden gem for the locals. They have valet parking and there is some street or public parking available if you plan on driving.
Every visit here is a delight, with both the food and service consistently excellent. Their wine selection is impressive and very fairly priced. On this visit, we enjoyed the Roasted chicken, Ribs, and sushi, and everything was cooked and presented beautifully. A truly five star experience from start to finish!
